Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center

Our center was opened in Yoyogi in 2007 as the only center in Japan under the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Organization, first founded in Canada. It moved to Koenji in 2011 and was temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2021. Now it has moved to Chitose Funabashi and reopen in November 2023. It is currently operated by several full-time staff members who live there. Following the teachings of our founder Swami Vishnudevananda, all staff and instructors are doing volunteer service and Karma Yoga to spread the teachings of yoga.DonationsWe also accept

A day at the center begins with early morning satsang (meditation, kirtan chanting, and philosophy and ends in the evening with arati (fire offering) after all classes have finished. Our center offers a variety of programs, including asana classes, YOGA-1 and YOGA-2 courses that teach you the basis of yoga from scratch, classes in Vedanta philosophy and Sanskrit, meditation courses, and workshops with instructors.

Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center (SYVC)

International SYVC is a nonprofit organization named after Swami Sivananda, one of the most influential saints of the 20th century, and founded by his disciple Swami Vishnudevananda. In 1957, Swami Vishnudevananda came to the West to share the teachings of yoga, following the instructions of his teacher Swami Sivananda. He founded the first Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Montreal, Canada in 1959. There are currently nearly 60 Sivananda locations (ashrams, yoga centers, and related centers) around the world. More than 47,000 graduates have been trained in TTC programs. Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram and Center is recognized worldwide for preserving the purity and tradition of yoga and teaching it authentically, dating back thousands of years.
